Bonfire Night falls tonight, with fireworks displays across London; the London Fire Brigade is urging people not to set off fireworks at home, after incidents hit a six-year high.

Bonfire Night falls tonight, and fireworks displays are taking place across London. The display at Wimbledon Park opens at 5:15pm, with a children's display at 6:45pm and the main show at 8:30pm; Coram's Fields is free to enter, and the Stow Firework Spectacular in Walthamstow also takes place tonight. Most of London's biggest displays, however, are scheduled for this weekend, on 7 and 8 November.

Fire brigade: firework incidents at a six-year high

The London Fire Brigade and the RSPCA are urging people not to set off fireworks at home. Brigade figures show firework-related calls and incidents have more than doubled since 2018: 117 were recorded in 2025, 30% more than in 2024 and more than double the six-year average. On 5 November last year, control officers handled 809 emergency calls.

The Brigade is hosting a special event at Croydon Fire Station tonight for young people with additional needs. The Met Office forecasts a chilly evening in London, with brisk easterly winds and a chance of isolated showers in the south. Fireworks may be set off until midnight tonight (usually 11pm).
