London's Brixton Tube station two-day police operation: 15 arrested, stolen phones and drugs seized

Met Police officers with transport partners ran a two-day plain-clothes and uniformed operation at Brixton Tube station, arresting 15 people and seizing stolen phones, a flick knife and suspected Class A drugs; 66% of those arrested do not live in Lambeth.
Why it matters
Brixton Tube station is one of South London's busiest transport hubs and the southern terminus of the Victoria line. Police ran a 48-hour targeted operation earlier this week with plain-clothes and uniformed officers, arresting 15 people on charges spanning grievous bodily harm, robbery, Class A drug possession and supply, fraud, assault on emergency workers and court order breaches.
Full report
According to police statements (reported by South London News on October 17, 2026), the operation brought together local Metropolitan Police teams, specialist officers and transport partners to tackle robbery, weapons, drugs and handling stolen goods around the station. Officers seized four mobile phones suspected of being stolen, one of which had been stolen in the Victoria area earlier that same day; an iPhone stolen at Borough Market the previous day was reunited with its owner.
Officers also recovered property linked to a residential burglary, plus a flick knife and a quantity of suspected Class A drugs from one suspect. Police data shows 66% of those arrested were not residents of the borough of Lambeth, pointing to criminals using London's transport network to travel in and commit offences across borough boundaries.
Police said intelligence-led, multi-agency deployments of this kind disrupt criminal pipelines, and urged the community to keep sharing information so resources can be directed at the worst-affected areas.
