The first-ever Dine on Denman food celebration kicks off today (November 5) on Vancouver's Denman Street, running for two weeks until November 19. Fifteen restaurants are offering three-course menus at $35, $45 or $55 per person — starter, main and dessert included. The event is organised by the West End Business Improvement Association (West End BIA) and sponsored by American Express Canada. (Photo: file image of a West End restaurant exterior.)
15 restaurants, three price points
Participating restaurants include España, Tavola, Nook, S.A.M.E. Vietnamese Eatery, Noah's Cafe, Fresh Solo Pasta, The Sauce Pasta Cafe, Shack Stack, Papi's Seafood and Oyster Bar, Café Portrait, Bombay Kitchen on Denman, Dan Dan Noodle, Peaked Pies, The Cozy Wok and Modern Handi Indian Cuisine. Most menus are posted on the BIA's event page — worth checking before booking.
What $35 gets you
At $35, Tavola starts with a ricotta crostini, offers a choice of four pastas — including rigatoni pork ragu and gnocchi with brown sage butter and hazelnuts — and finishes with a lemon Positano. At $45, España offers white anchovies on toasted sourdough or a golden beet salad, then arroz con setas, ling cod or confit duck leg, with Basque cheesecake or chocolate mousse to finish. Peaked Pies' $35 menu serves two people.
Booking tips
Some restaurants require reservations: The Cozy Wok is reservation-only, and diners must mention Dine on Denman when booking; Noah's Cafe takes walk-ins but asks the whole table to order the set menu. The BIA suggests pairing a visit with the free Lumière Festival lights across downtown and the West End, November 12–14.
