Ukraine says major Russian drone attack on Kyiv kills at least two, injures more than 30

Reuters, citing Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and other Ukrainian officials, reported that the attack lasted from the morning into early afternoon. The latest public official toll was at least two killed and more than 30 injured; rescue work and damage assessments were continuing, so the figures may change.

Ukrainian officials said drones hit a nine-storey non-residential building, a business centre, warehouses, railway infrastructure and two fuel stations. State railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia said railway infrastructure was attacked and one employee was injured, while Kyiv's main railway station was not damaged.

Zelenskiy said Russia deployed many drones, a large number of them jet-powered. Such drones are faster and fly higher, making them harder for Ukraine's conventional mobile air-defence teams to intercept.
