Nigeria Energy 2026 opened on October 27 at the Landmark Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos, running to October 29. More than 8,500 professionals, 200 exhibitors and 120 speakers are expected, with grid reliability, renewables and financing topping the agenda.
Lagos is hosting West Africa's energy industry this week. Nigeria Energy 2026, the 13th edition of the annual event, opened on October 27 at the Landmark Centre in Victoria Island and runs to October 29. More than 8,500 energy professionals, over 200 exhibitors and 120 speakers are expected, under the patronage of the Federal Ministry of Power, with the event organised by Informa Markets.
Grid reliability, renewables and financing lead the agenda
The conference tracks focus on the five areas driving regional power modernisation: renewable energy deployment, transmission grid upgrades, industrial critical power systems, smart grid management tools and project capital financing. Technical sessions cover off-grid solar, electricity regulation, digital grid security, artificial intelligence in project management, energy efficiency and engineering innovation.
Free technical sessions for practitioners
One of the main attractions is the Technical Excellence Forum, offering free sessions on practical solutions for Nigeria's power sector, including protecting connected power infrastructure against cyber threats, using artificial intelligence to improve project planning and performance, and a masterclass organised by the Nigerian Society of Engineers. Kedo Osariere Allwell, Head of Research at the National Centre for Energy Efficiency and Conservation, is also expected to speak on cutting energy use in healthcare and hospitality.
Why Lagos, why now
Organisers say the gathering comes at a defining moment for Nigeria and the wider ECOWAS region, as countries push grid expansion and clean energy adoption at the same time. Policymakers, operators, technology providers and institutional investors are using the three days for exhibitions, bilateral meetings and deal-making, with the stated aim of turning discussions about grid reliability and financing into projects that reach homes and factories.
