RER C service was suspended on the morning of October 28 between Viroflay Rive Gauche and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, a knock-on effect of a track incident in the Juvisy area. The line's traffic updates put resumption at 9:50 a.m., with Transilien line N and line U as alternatives.

RER C service was suspended on the morning of Wednesday, October 28, between Viroflay Rive Gauche and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines–Montigny-le-Bretonneux in the Yvelines. The problem did not start on the western section itself: it was the knock-on effect of an incident affecting the track in the Juvisy area, in Essonne — on a sprawling line of around 187 kilometres with numerous branches, trouble at one end of the network is often felt at the other.

Stations affected and alternatives

The disruption hit the western section of the line, from Viroflay Rive Gauche to the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines terminus, directly affecting passengers travelling to Versailles-Chantiers, Saint-Cyr or Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. According to the RER C traffic updates page, service was expected to resume at 9:50 a.m.; even so, delays or cancellations remained possible elsewhere on the line while service returned to normal.

For alternatives, Transilien line N connects Viroflay Rive Gauche, Versailles-Chantiers and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines with Paris-Montparnasse, while line U, departing from La Défense, serves Versailles-Chantiers, Saint-Cyr and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines. Passengers were advised to check upcoming departures on the Transilien SNCF website, the official line C blog or the Île-de-France Mobilités app, with the @RERC_SNCF account posting real-time updates.
