Agentic AI Foundation Grows to 10 Projects in a Year as Anthropic, OpenAI, Hugging Face and Alibaba Each Donate One
AAIF announced four new hosted projects at AGNTCon+MCPCon North America — Anthropic's Agent Skills, OpenAI's Open Responses, Hugging Face's OpenEnv and Alibaba's OpenSandbox — covering agent capabilities, cross-provider interoperability, training environments and secure execution.
Why it matters
The Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF) today announced four new projects: Agent Skills contributed by Anthropic, Open Responses by OpenAI, OpenEnv by Hugging Face and OpenSandbox by Alibaba. In its first year, AAIF has grown from three launch projects to 10, a sign that neutral open governance is becoming the default home for agentic AI infrastructure.
Details
Each project covers one layer of the agentic stack: Agent Skills is an open format for giving agents new capabilities and domain expertise (a SKILL.md folder plus scripts and reference material). Anthropic says more than 70 agent platforms have integrated it, with 1 million skills published and nearly 280 million installs. Open Responses is an open specification for multi-provider, interoperable LLM interfaces based on the OpenAI Responses API, so developers can write a request once and run it across model providers. OpenEnv is an open framework and community hub for reinforcement-learning environments, exposing a containerized service with MCP and the Gym training protocol. OpenSandbox is a general-purpose sandbox platform with multi-language SDKs, unified sandbox APIs and Docker/Kubernetes runtimes.
They join the Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol, Agent Router, agentgateway, AGENTS.md, goose and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) under AAIF's vendor-neutral governance. The announcement was made at AGNTCon + MCPCon North America, held October 22-23 at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center. AAIF CTO and co-founder Manik Surtani said four different companies choosing neutral governance is exactly the foundation's job: giving the community one place to build shared standards, protocols and infrastructure.
