What happened
Around 7 p.m. Mountain time on Friday, Oct. 2, Calgary police responded to a weapons complaint in the 500 block of Seventh Avenue S.E. in the East Village. During a fight, one man stabbed another; the two knew each other. The victim was taken to hospital, where he died of his injuries. The suspect fled before officers arrived and remains at large.
Investigation
In an Oct. 3 update, police said witness accounts and CCTV footage have identified a man and a woman who may be connected to the case, and released their photos, asking the public for tips. An autopsy is scheduled for Oct. 6. Case file CA26452863/4786. Homicide Staff Sgt. Mark Rahn described it as a brazen act of violence in broad daylight.
