Calgary's Enerflex wins new 1+ GW data-centre gas power order, backlog tops 1.75 GW

Calgary-based Enerflex announced a new engineered-systems award of over one gigawatt of behind-the-meter natural gas power units for a large North American data centre, pushing its backlog past 1.75 GW with deliveries through 2028.

Why it matters

Soaring power demand from AI data centres has made behind-the-meter generation a gold mine for North American energy equipment makers. Two major awards in twelve days have doubled Enerflex's backlog — a sign of how urgently data centres need reliable power, and a real order boost for Calgary's energy manufacturing sector.

Full report

In a news release issued today via GlobeNewswire, Enerflex Ltd. (TSX: EFX; NYSE: EFXT) said it has won a major Engineered Systems project to design, engineer, fabricate and assemble over one gigawatt of low-emission behind-the-meter natural gas-fired power generation units for a large-scale North American data centre development.

Combined with the approximately 450-megawatt award announced on October 1, Enerflex's behind-the-meter natural gas power backlog now exceeds 1.75 gigawatts, with deliveries extending through 2028. The projects will be executed through the company's North American manufacturing operations.

To support the backlog and expected growth, Enerflex has authorized about US$100 million of investments in its Engineered Systems facilities and capabilities, US$15 million of which is included in its 2026 capital expenditure guidance. The company said it will update its capital program with third-quarter results.
