Full report

Community members, young athletes and Calgary Stampeders players got an early look at the new fields, the city said. The project is led by the Calgary Stampeders Foundation as part of the community legacy left behind by the 2026 Grey Cup, which Calgary is hosting.

The three fields are intended to grow flag football at the grassroots level. The deputy mayor's office took part in this week's event, highlighting the legacy investment as support for the next generation of athletes.

CTV News and CityNews report the trio of fields sits in a southeast Calgary park and will come into use as Grey Cup preparations advance.
