Calgary's Operation Guardian seizes drugs worth over $350,000, with five people charged

Calgary police said on October 28 that Operation Guardian has led to 67 traffic stops, five arrests and 17 charges since September 23, seizing fentanyl, cocaine and 701 fentanyl pills.
The Calgary Police Service said on October 28 that Operation Guardian, targeting drug and firearms activity across the city, has seized drugs worth more than $350,000. The operation was developed in September 2026 by the Organized Crime Enforcement Unit and the Strategic Data Integration and Intelligence Analytical Unit, and launched on September 23.
What was seized
Police said the operation has so far resulted in 67 traffic stops, four separate drug trafficking investigations, five arrests and 17 charges. Seizures total 3.18 kilograms of fentanyl, 175.5 grams of powder cocaine, 66.2 grams of crack cocaine, 701 fentanyl pills and more than $12,000 in cash.
An intelligence-led approach
Police said the operation uses geospatial analysis and crime data to detect areas where drug and firearms activity is rising relative to historical patterns, enabling early detection of crime hot spots; officers then deploy to those areas to disrupt activity, gather intelligence and carry out investigations and enforcement. Police also credited a recent realignment of resources in the Organized Crime and Offender Management Section with allowing closer coordination between investigative resources.
Those charged, and what comes next
Of the five people charged, Trevor Breau, 34, is scheduled to appear in court on November 4; Jaden Suarez-Balleza, 26, and Georgiy Pak, 22, on November 13; Prinderjit Singh Binning, 32, on October 30; and a 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, on November 9. These are charges, not convictions. Police said proactive investigation and enforcement related to Operation Guardian are ongoing, and anyone with information about drug, firearms or organized crime activity in Calgary can call 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
