Full story

Rocky Ridge Athletic Park opened for bookings on September 24, 2026, adding two artificial-turf athletic fields to Calgary's network. Located just outside Ward 2 near the Shane Homes YMCA at Rocky Ridge (11300 Rocky Ridge Rd. N.W.), the park includes field lighting, washrooms, parking and spectator seating.

For the initial fall season, fields are bookable Thursdays from 5 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., September 24 through October 29, weather permitting; only full-field bookings are available. The fields are lined for soccer but can be booked by a variety of sports groups through the city's existing allocation system.

The $25.1-million project brings Calgary's athletic park network to 15 parks with 31 soccer fields, giving schedulers more flexibility and field-recovery time. It is the first phase of a larger Rocky Ridge Athletic Complex vision that could one day include an indoor fieldhouse, pending funding.
