The Canadian Football League has named Calgary Stampeders director of football administration Molly Campbell the winner of the 2026 Jane Mawby Tribute Award, honouring a 21-year league veteran who works behind the scenes.

Why it matters

The Jane Mawby Tribute Award honours longstanding, unsung contributors who work behind the scenes at the league or team level, rather than stars on the field. Campbell is the second Stampeders employee to receive it, and her work across player contracts, immigration paperwork, travel and training camp logistics keeps the team running day to day.

Full report

The Canadian Football League (CFL) has selected Calgary Stampeders director of football administration Molly Campbell as the recipient of the 2026 Jane Mawby Tribute Award. Named in honour of the late Jane Mawby, who spent 28 years in the Stampeders organization, the award was created by the Ladies of the Stampeders in 2019 to recognize a longstanding and unsung contributor who works behind the scenes at the league or team level. Each year, the CFL League Office and all nine member clubs submit a nominee before the final selection is determined by a committee of team presidents.

Campbell is in her 21st year in the CFL and her 14th with the Stampeders. She began in 2006 as a media relations assistant in Edmonton before moving to digital media manager; she joined the Stampeders in a digital media role in 2013 and became manager of web and communications through February 2018; in October 2018 she returned as director of football administration and has also served a stint as manager of team services.

Her current duties include preparing player contracts and immigration papers, assisting with player travel and accommodation, training camp logistics, and tracking defensive play calls in the spotters box on game days. Stampeders president Jay McNeil said Molly is one of those special people who makes everyone around her and the entire organization better, and that the team feels incredibly fortunate to have her.

Campbell said receiving an award named for Jane Mawby means the world to her, noting that she sits at Mawby's desk every single day.
