Two men charged with firearm prohibition, weapons and drug offences in Calgary

At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2026, police responded to reports of two individuals trying vehicle door handles in the 0-100 block of Creekside Grove S.W. Officers located two suspects nearby and took them into custody. During the investigation, officers recovered a loaded Smith & Wesson 9-mm handgun, 17.8 grams of methamphetamine, a cellular phone, keys to a BMW and a garage door opener.
Wilfred Bronson Barrett, 32, has been charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of a restricted firearm, possession of a firearm without a licence, obstruction and possession of methamphetamine. He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 7, 2026. Dakota Brandon Bolton, 32, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and obstruction, and is scheduled to appear on Dec. 16, 2026.
"This arrest highlights the proactive work being done by our officers to address property crime and remove dangerous weapons and drugs from our communities," said District 8 Insp. Darry Midtdal, thanking residents who report suspicious behaviour.
