Canada's Anand travels to Iceland Oct 8–9 for Arctic Circle Assembly

Anand will deliver keynote remarks on Canada's Arctic leadership and meet Iceland's prime minister and foreign minister on Arctic security and trade.

Global Affairs Canada announced on October 7 that Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Anand will travel to Reykjavík, Iceland, from October 8 to 9 to attend the Arctic Circle Assembly, the largest annual international gathering on Arctic issues. Anand will deliver keynote remarks on Canada's Arctic leadership, the implementation of Canada's Arctic Foreign Policy, engagement with Indigenous Peoples and Northerners, and Arctic security and defence investments. She will also take part in a panel marking the Arctic Council's 30th anniversary and meet with Canadian Indigenous and Northern youth.
While in Reykjavík, Anand will meet Iceland's Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir and Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir to strengthen bilateral ties and discuss Arctic security, trade and economic opportunities, and shared foreign policy priorities. She will also visit Keflavík Airbase.
