The Prime Minister's Office issued a news release in Ottawa on Friday (October 2) announcing the new council. It will provide independent, practical advice to the government in advancing the AI for All strategy's four goals: accelerating AI adoption across Canadian industries; growing Canadian AI champions; building sovereign AI infrastructure; and strengthening AI safety and democratic protection.
Members announced so far include Ajay Agrawal and Mila founder and Turing laureate Yoshua Bengio. The council will bring together experts, entrepreneurs, researchers, investors and international specialists from the public and private sectors.
