Ottawa announces $66.3 million for energy efficiency and affordable housing projects nationwide

Julie Dabrusin, Minister of the Environment, Climate Change and Nature, announced the funding on October 2, 2026, for projects under the Community Efficiency Financing initiative and the Sustainable Affordable Housing initiative. The funding covers residential retrofit financing programs, feasibility studies and program design, low-carbon affordable housing construction, retrofit planning, pilot projects and capital projects.
By region: 12 projects in Atlantic Canada, 36 in Quebec, 39 in Ontario, 36 across the Prairies, 38 in British Columbia and 1 in Nunavut. The announcement was made at 11:00 a.m. (EDT) in Ajax, Ontario, with Jennifer McKelvie, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, representatives of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and local elected officials in attendance.
Together, the projects support energy efficiency improvements, emissions reductions, affordable housing innovation, residential retrofits and innovative financing solutions in every region of Canada.
