Canada Disability Benefit October payment lands today, up to $204.20 a month

· N GLOBE

Thursday, October 15 is the October payment date for the Canada Disability Benefit, with eligible working-age Canadians receiving up to $204.20 — the fourth monthly payment of the 2026-27 benefit year.

Why it matters

Thursday, October 15 is the October payment date for the Canada Disability Benefit (CDB). Eligible working-age Canadians with disabilities can receive up to $204.20 this month, normally by direct deposit; mailed cheques take longer.

It is the fourth monthly payment of the 2026-27 benefit year. The year began in July with the program's first-ever annual indexation, raising the maximum from $200 to $204.20 a month (a 2.1% increase), for a maximum annual entitlement of $2,450.40. The benefit is tax-free and is designed to supplement, not replace, existing provincial disability programs.

Eligibility and remaining payment dates

Applicants must be 18 to 64, hold a Disability Tax Credit certificate approved by the CRA, and have submitted a CDB application to Service Canada — a DTC certificate alone does not enrol you. The benefit is income-tested against adjusted family net income; if your total annual entitlement is $240 or less, it is paid as a single lump sum instead of monthly.

The remaining 2026 payment dates are November 19 and December 17. Service Canada asks recipients to wait 5 to 10 business days after the payment date before contacting the program about a missing payment.
