Ottawa invests nearly C$5 million in two Sarnia businesses, C$4M for AlumaPower's aluminum-fueled generators

The federal government announced Oct. 9 that FedDev Ontario will invest nearly C$5 million in two Sarnia, Ont. companies: clean-tech firm AlumaPower gets C$4 million to commercialize aluminum-fueled generator systems, while industrial fabricator Promart receives close to C$900,000 to modernize and diversify amid tariff pressures.
Why it matters
Sarnia is a key industrial city in southwestern Ontario, and this federal funding targets two goals at once: bringing Canadian-developed aluminum-fueled clean power technology to defence and commercial markets, and helping traditional manufacturers upgrade equipment and find new markets to withstand U.S. tariff pressure. The investment was announced by Marilyn Gladu, MP for Sarnia–Lambton–Bkejwanong, on behalf of Evan Solomon, Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Innovation.
