On October 16, 2026, the Government of Canada announced an $18.5 million investment in Prevost, a division of Volvo Group Canada Inc., through the Strategic Response Fund. The announcement was made by Joël Lightbound, Minister of Government Transformation, Public Works and Procurement and Quebec Lieutenant, on behalf of Mélanie Joly, Minister of Industry. The funding supports an $87.5 million project to develop the "One Prevost Platform," a new vehicle platform supporting multiple propulsion technologies, including low- and zero-emission options. The project aims to strengthen Prevost's supply chain and R&D capacity, develop new intellectual property, and secure the company's long-term manufacturing presence in Sainte-Claire, Quebec, positioning Canada as a hub for advanced bus manufacturing. The investment aligns with Canada's new auto strategy announced by Prime Minister Carney in February 2026.
