Two Saskatchewan ministers head to India to boost trade, education ties

Saskatchewan's trade and advanced education ministers lead a week-long mission to India focused on food security, critical minerals, energy and higher-education partnerships; 2025 exports to India totalled C$827 million.
Why it matters
Saskatchewan's Minister of Trade and Export Development Warren Kaeding is leading a trade and investment mission to India running October 10 to 16, 2026, joined by Minister of Advanced Education Ken Cheveldayoff, who will meet post-secondary institutions. India is an important partner for the province's food and energy security priorities, with 2025 exports to the country totalling $827 million.
The delegation will meet business leaders, stakeholders and government officials focused on food security, critical minerals, energy and sustainability, while promoting Saskatchewan's agricultural expertise and expanding research and academic collaboration. Representatives from the University of Saskatchewan (USask) are also attending.
Both ministers will represent Saskatchewan at the federal government's Team Canada Trade Mission programming in Mumbai on October 14. Kaeding said the province had found "a strong and reliable partner in India" and looked forward to strengthening the relationship in the days ahead.
