Days before the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, the Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation says it has documented people linked to a white supremacist group inside its community — and is working with the RCMP on the matter.

In a message dated September 27, Kúkwpi7 (Chief) Rosanne Casimir, on behalf of Chief and Council, advised community members that individuals associated with Second Sons Canada — a group linked to white supremacist and white nationalist ideology — have been seen and documented within Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc.
Chief and Council said the presence of people associated with white supremacist activity is being taken seriously, and that the safety and well-being of members is the priority. The Nation is actively monitoring the situation, assessing additional security measures, and working with the RCMP. A police file has been opened.
The statement noted that with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation approaching on September 30, the presence of the group may heighten concern for Indian Residential School Survivors, intergenerational Survivors, and their families. It stressed that this will not deter the Nation, Survivors and their families from continuing to share the truth, honour the children, and advance the work of reconciliation.
