CBSA Adjusts Service Hours at 26 Land Border Ports in B.C., Alberta and Manitoba, Effective Nov. 1

The Canada Border Services Agency announced new hours for 26 land ports across three provinces to align with neighbouring U.S. ports, as the three provinces stay on permanent daylight saving time while the U.S. still changes its clocks seasonally.
Why it matters
The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) announced on October 9 that it is adjusting service hours at 26 land ports of entry in British Columbia (9), Alberta (4) and Manitoba (13). The new hours take effect at 2:00 a.m. local time on November 1, 2026 and run through 2:00 a.m. on March 14, 2027.
Full report
The change is due to the three provinces observing permanent daylight saving time year-round, while the United States still changes its clocks seasonally; after the adjustment, the ports will stay aligned with neighbouring U.S. ports year-round.
Alberta's four ports, for example: Aden (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), Carway (8:00 a.m.–midnight), Del Bonita (10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.), Wild Horse (travellers 9:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m., commercial 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.). In B.C., ports including Aldergrove (9:00 a.m.–1:00 a.m.), Carson and Cascade also have new schedules.
CBSA says the adjustment helps both sides coordinate (for example, when a traveller denied entry must return the way they came) and gives travellers clearer opening hours. If a port is closed when a traveller needs to cross, an alternate port can be used; in emergencies, CBSA will coordinate with emergency services on both sides.
