China's cyberspace regulator punishes Toutiao and UC over "online ecosystem" violations
China's cyberspace regulator summoned ByteDance's Toutiao news app over damage to the "online ecosystem" and separately penalized Alibaba's UC platform, Reuters reported.

China's Cyberspace Administration (CAC) said it had summoned ByteDance's news aggregator Jinri Toutiao (Toutiao) for undermining the online ecosystem, ordering it to rectify problems within a deadline, issuing a warning, and punishing those responsible. On the same day, the CAC announced it had investigated and penalized Alibaba's UC platform in a case involving damage to the online ecosystem, according to Reuters.
