Skymizer and MiTAC to run 2.8-trillion-parameter Kimi K3 on a single air-cooled server at SC26

Skymizer and MiTAC Computing announced they will showcase Moonshot AI's Kimi K3, a 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts model, running on a single MiTAC server with eight HTX301 LPU cards and 2 TB of card-attached memory.
Skymizer and MiTAC Computing announced today (November 5) that they will jointly showcase Moonshot AI's Kimi K3 — a 2.8-trillion-parameter mixture-of-experts (MoE) model — running on a single MiTAC air-cooled server equipped with eight Skymizer HTX301 Language Processing Unit (LPU) cards and 2 TB of card-attached memory, at the SC26 supercomputing conference. One air-cooled server for 2.8 trillion parameters
Kimi K3 uses native MXFP4 (quantization-aware trained) weights, with a weight set of about 1.56 TB; the 2 TB memory configuration is designed to hold those weights while leaving room for KV cache. Skymizer said final memory allocation and supported workloads remain subject to engineering validation.
From 30 billion parameters at COMPUTEX to the trillion class
The showcase builds on Skymizer's demonstration at COMPUTEX 2026 in June, where it showed Qwen3-VL-30B-A3B, a 30-billion-parameter multimodal MoE model. Skymizer chief technology officer Luba Tang said the team is now extending that work to a single-server configuration designed for Kimi K3: "LISA provides a common instruction set and toolchain as we develop the memory-residency and scheduling capabilities required for larger models."
Aimed at enterprise on-premises deployment
Skymizer chief marketing officer William Wei said enterprises want greater control over the models, data and infrastructure behind their AI services: "Our work with MiTAC aims to make larger open-weight models more practical to deploy on premises." MiTAC said the collaboration explores prefill-decode disaggregation and optimised AI inference deployment. Target uses include financial services, healthcare, government, manufacturing and semiconductor design, where data governance is central.
Chip production to begin in Q1 2027
HTX301 chip production is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, with development and validation of the server platform ongoing; sampling and broader commercial availability will be announced separately. The HTX301-4S card has an approximately 155W card-level power figure. Skymizer will also take part in ICCAD-Expo 2026 in Beijing on November 19–20, bringing the same product to the Chinese market.
