Delhi air quality improves slightly: AQI back to 190, back in 'moderate' range

After three days at 'poor' levels, the capital's overall AQI returned to moderate, but hotspots like Jahangirpuri remain poor and curbs stay in force.
Why it matters
Delhi's days-long spell of 'poor' air eased slightly, with the overall index returning to 'moderate' — though pollution hotspots remain well above the mark and restrictions are unchanged.

Data from India's Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed Delhi's overall Air Quality Index at around 190 on the morning of 24 October — in the 'moderate' category, a slight improvement from 223 and 226 ('poor') over the previous two days.
The improvement is uneven: Jahangirpuri recorded 276, still in the 'poor' band. Indian media citing CPCB live data report that several monitoring stations across the capital remain above moderate levels.
To tackle the ongoing pollution season, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Wednesday invoked Stage 1 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the Delhi National Capital Region.
