Delhi traffic police issues Durga Puja advisory: CR Park, GK-II restricted daily from 4 pm

Full report

The Delhi Traffic Police on Saturday issued a traffic advisory for Durga Puja celebrations: from October 16 to 20, Chittaranjan Park (CR Park), Greater Kailash-II and adjoining areas of South Delhi will be under traffic restrictions daily from 4 pm to midnight.

Police said a large number of devotees and visitors from Delhi and adjoining areas are expected at the Puja pandals. As the pandals are located in residential colonies with limited road space and no designated visitor parking, heavy footfall and traffic congestion are expected during evening hours. Private vehicles of visitors and devotees will not be allowed to enter CR Park and Greater Kailash-II during the restriction hours.

Roads and stretches likely to be affected include the Outer Ring Road between Vasant Vihar and Modi Mill Flyover, Lala Lajpat Rai Marg near CR Park, August Kranti Marg between Ring Road and Outer Ring Road, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road between Khanpur and Jamia Hamdard, Guru Ravidas Marg, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, Josip Broz Tito Marg and internal roads around CR Park and Greater Kailash-II.

Commuters and devotees have been advised to use the Delhi Metro to reach the pandals; taxi and auto-rickshaw drop-off points have been set up at Greater Kailash and Nehru Enclave Metro stations. Unauthorized parking will not be permitted in or around the affected areas — illegally parked vehicles will be towed away and prosecuted. For assistance, commuters can call the traffic helpline 1095.
