· N GLOBE

DSLSA and Delhi Traffic Police will hold the National Lok Adalat on Oct 25 across 7 district courts to settle traffic challans issued on or before June 30, 2026; magistrates may reduce or waive fines. Online token booking opens Oct 19; no walk-ins.

Why it matters

The Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and the Delhi Traffic Police will jointly hold the National Lok Adalat on Oct 25 across seven district court complexes in Delhi to settle traffic challans, with magistrates able to reduce or even waive fines. Vehicle owners with pending challans must book an online appointment token from Oct 19 — walk-ins will not be accepted — making this practical, money-saving news for Delhi motorists.

Full report

Lok Adalat benches will operate on Oct 25 from 10 AM to 4 PM at seven district court complexes — Tis Hazari, Patiala House, Saket, Rohini, Dwarka, Karkardooma and Rouse Avenue — taking up civil and compoundable criminal cases (excluding divorce matters), including traffic challan settlements.

Challans issued on or before June 30, 2026 and transferred to the e-court portal are eligible, with a maximum of seven challans per vehicle owner. Common violations such as overspeeding, red-light jumping, wrong parking, no helmet or no seatbelt qualify; drunk driving, hit-and-run and other serious offences are excluded. Magistrates may reduce the fine or waive it entirely depending on the case.

From Oct 19, vehicle owners must visit the Delhi Traffic Police's Lok Adalat portal at traffic.delhipolice.gov.in/lokadalat, enter their vehicle number, complete verification, download the challan and book a court complex and time slot. On the day, they must carry printed copies of the challan slip and appointment token — no printing facilities are available at the courts — along with the original Registration Certificate, driving licence, valid insurance and PUC certificate. The event was originally scheduled for Oct 10 and rescheduled to Oct 25.
