Dubai Launches Global AI Agent Championship with Prizes Exceeding AED 2.5 Million
Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan announced Oct 7 the launch of the "Create AI Agents Championship," a global AI agent competition with four categories and a prize pool exceeding AED 2.5 million; registration is now open worldwide.
Why it matters
Dubai is upgrading its flagship AI contest from "building apps" to "building agents." The championship signals the emirate's bet that autonomous AI agents solving real-world problems — not consumer apps — are the next frontier it wants to own.
The announcement
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed — Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence — announced the competition on Wednesday (Oct 7) at an awards ceremony on Emirates Towers Boulevard.
The new championship replaces the earlier "Create Apps Championship" app-development contest and pivots to soliciting autonomous AI agent systems that address real-world challenges. It is open to participants of all ages and backgrounds worldwide, accepting entries from ideas and prototypes to minimum viable products; fully commercialized solutions are not eligible.
Four categories and the prize pool
The contest has four categories: Best Social AI Agent, Best Personal AI Agent, Best Business AI Agent, and Best Youth AI Agent (under 21). Winners in each category receive AED 550,000 (about US$150,000) in funding, while an overall "AI Agent of the Year" champion receives a further AED 1 million. The total prize pool exceeds AED 2.5 million (about US$680,000).
How to enter
Registration is now open worldwide. Workshops, Digital Academy training courses and mentorship sessions are scheduled for November and December.
