Dubai's DAE Delivers 10th Boeing 737 MAX to United Airlines; Leased Fleet Grows to 26

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise said today it delivered the tenth and final Boeing 737-9 to United Airlines under a sale-and-leaseback deal signed earlier in 2026, bringing DAE's fleet on lease to the airline to 26 aircraft — completed in just three months.

Why it matters

Sale-and-leaseback is a standard tool for fleet growth: an airline sells new aircraft to a lessor and leases them back, easing one-time capital outlays while quickly bringing in more fuel-efficient new-generation jets. DAE's completion of this 10-aircraft mandate for United strengthens its position among the world's major aircraft lessors.

The deal

Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) announced on October 21 that it had delivered the tenth and final Boeing 737-9 to United Airlines, completing a sale-and-leaseback agreement signed earlier in 2026. The transaction was executed in partnership with Equator and Mustang, with DAE Capital serving as servicer.

With the mandate fulfilled, DAE's total fleet on lease to United Airlines grows to 26 Boeing 737 and Airbus A320 family aircraft. DAE CEO Firoz Tarapore said the transaction went from document execution to mandate fulfillment "in just three months," demonstrating the agility of both teams. The 737-9 is a member of the Boeing 737 MAX family, powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines, cutting fuel use and emissions by about 20% compared with the jets it replaces.
