Etihad Rail announced Oct. 2 it will run six extra services between Abu Dhabi and Dubai this weekend (Oct. 3-4), adding over 1,000 seats a day; tickets went on sale Friday at 2 pm.

Why it matters

Etihad Rail announced Oct. 2 that it will run six extra passenger services between Abu Dhabi and Dubai this weekend (Saturday Oct. 3 and Sunday Oct. 4) in response to exceptionally strong demand — adding more than 1,000 seats a day, over 2,000 in total. It is the first demand-driven capacity boost since Dubai–Abu Dhabi passenger services began on Sept. 30.

Full report

The extra timetable is the same on both days (UAE local time): Abu Dhabi to Dubai at 12:14 pm and 4:43 pm, and Dubai to Abu Dhabi at 1:43 pm. Tickets for the additional services went on sale at 2 pm on Friday, Oct. 2.

Etihad Rail's passenger service launched June 30, initially linking Abu Dhabi and Fujairah; the network expanded Sept. 30 with Dubai's Al Yalayis station (in Jumeirah Golf Estates, linked by a pedestrian bridge to the Dubai Metro Red Line) and Sharjah's Al Dhaid station, starting regular Dubai–Abu Dhabi–Fujairah services.

Four passenger stations are now open: Mohammed Bin Zayed City in Abu Dhabi, Al Yalayis in Dubai, Fujairah station, and Al Dhaid in Sharjah. Trains are designed to run at up to 200 km/h, with fares starting at AED 39 for Comfort Class and AED 109 for Premium Class.
