Dubai rolls out 45 rapid traffic fixes across 8 key locations, journey times to fall 15–30%

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has begun implementing rapid traffic solutions at eight strategic locations as part of its 2026 plan of more than 45 traffic enhancements.

Why it matters

Dubai's vehicle fleet keeps growing, and the RTA is now tackling congestion head-on with "rapid solutions" at eight of the most congested road sections, promising journey times cut by 15% to 30% once complete. Drivers and bus riders should feel the difference soon.

Where the works are

The RTA has started work at: Emirates Road (from Sharjah toward Wadi Al Amardi Street); Umm Amara Street (from Sheikh Zayed Road toward Al Wasl Street); Jebel Ali–Lehbab Street; the area between Sama Al Jaddaf and Al Jaddaf Waterfront near Al Jaddaf Metro Station; Al Na'ayat Street in Al Barsha 1; Al Maktoum School in Al Satwa; the intersection of Al Ittihad Street and Al Quds Street; and Sheikh Rashid Street near Grand Hyatt Dubai toward Bur Dubai.

The measures include widening selected streets from one lane to two, converting roundabouts into signalised intersections, building new links between main roads and residential and commercial districts, adding parking at schools and key facilities, and a full package of traffic safety upgrades. The works are part of a comprehensive 2026 plan of more than 45 traffic enhancements.
