NEURA Robotics and NXAI partner to give cognitive robots lasting memory

· N GLOBE

Two European AI firms will integrate NXAI's xLSTM memory architecture into NEURA's Physical AI stack so robots can remember across multi-step tasks.

Why it matters

"A robot that genuinely helps in everyday life and industry must be able to remember." NEURA Robotics founder and CEO David Reger's line captures the point of the deal: for robots to move beyond demo mode, they must retain what happened across multi-step tasks and act on accumulated experience, not treat every situation as if it were the first.

What the deal covers

NEURA Robotics (Metzingen, Germany) and NXAI (Austria) announced on 20 October 2026 that they will jointly develop a memory component for cognitive robots, in two parts. First, they will integrate NEURA's Physical AI stack with xLSTM, NXAI's recurrent architecture that holds and updates state efficiently across long sequences, building on Neuron AI — NEURA's multimodal foundation model combining 3D vision, touch, audio, robot state and language with a memory function. Second, NXAI plans to make its own xLSTM-based model available on NEURA's Neuraverse platform, alongside Neuron AI, giving robot builders a second, customizable model option.

"Memory and experience are what allow robots to solve tasks reliably across many steps," said Prof. Dr. Sepp Hochreiter, founder of NXAI and co-inventor of the original LSTM architecture. "xLSTM is built for that: fast, memory-efficient and capable of holding state across long sequences."

The companies framed it as Physical AI from Europe: "Two European strengths, one goal: Physical AI from Europe, together for the world," said Reger.

Context: NEURA launched the Neuron AI multimodal foundation model on 14 October, and plans an 11-minute fully autonomous laundry demonstration with its 4NE1 humanoid at NVIDIA GTC Berlin on 20–22 October (sorting, washing-machine handling, transfer to dryer).
