Hong Kong film 'We Are Born Good' tops opening-day box office and earns nine Golden Horse nominations

Hong Kong film 'We Are Born Good' opened on October 29 and took both the single-day and opening-day box office crowns, the first local new-director feature to do so this year. It has nine nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards on November 22 in Taipei.
Hong Kong film 'We Are Born Good' (《善男信女》) has scored an early box office win: released on October 29, it took both the single-day and opening-day box office crowns, becoming the first local new-director feature to achieve the feat this year.

A wrong food order sparks a cycle of revenge
Directed by emerging filmmaker Yeung Leung-chuen, the film was inspired by a viral street argument over an incorrect food order. It centres on a struggling actress and the owner of a local eatery who fall into a cycle of revenge after the wrong dish is served, using black humour to unpack the pressures of city life. The film premiered in the Discovery section of the Toronto International Film Festival and was backed by Hong Kong's First Feature Film Initiative.
Nine Golden Horse nominations, including best feature
'We Are Born Good' has nine nominations at the 63rd Golden Horse Awards, including Best Narrative Feature and Best New Director, plus leading acting nominations for Yeung Wai-lun and Chung Suet-ying — who won the Golden Horse best actress award for 'The Way We Talk' — and a supporting actress nod for Kearen Pang. The awards ceremony takes place on November 22 at the Taipei Music Center, with the Golden Horse Film Festival running November 6–22 and all nominated films screening.
Chung Suet-ying said at a charity premiere that she most looked forward to attending the ceremony with the team, and hoped the nine nominations would translate into box office success and draw more audiences.
