Idaho deputy frees juvenile moose tangled in wire, talking calmly all the way

A Latah County, Idaho sheriff's deputy cut a juvenile moose free from a roll of wire fencing wrapped around its head and body, using pruning shears and a calm voice throughout; the moose kicked and grunted at first, then settled, and once freed scrambled up and bolted — the sheriff's office says it left safe, sound and full of apples.
Why it matters
There is no chase and no drama in this body-camera clip — just a deputy crouched beside a frightened young animal, talking softly and snipping slowly. For weekend readers, that quiet patience is exactly the point.
Full report
The Latah County Sheriff's Office in Idaho shared body-camera footage on Instagram, reported on October 21, showing Deputy Frantz responding to a welfare check after a property owner called for help: a juvenile moose had become wrapped in a roll of wire fencing around its head and body.
Frantz cut the wire with pruning shears, talking calmly to the animal throughout and telling it he needed a couple more clips. The moose kicked and grunted at first, then settled, letting him keep working; once enough wire was cleared, the young moose scrambled to its feet, wove itself out of the remaining wire and bolted for a nearby field.
The sheriff's office wrote that the moose was cut loose and sent on his way, safe, sound, and full of apples; after sprinting away, the calf stopped, turned and looked back at the deputy, a moment Frantz later described simply as pretty cool. Reports of the rescue also warn people to keep their distance from moose and to take any charge seriously.
