Industry reporting on Oct. 27 says Italian embedded computing firm SECO is first to market with an industrial SMARC module based on Qualcomm's Dragonwing IQ8 series, the SOM-SMARC-Dragonwing-IQ8, and is now accepting requests for a limited number of engineering samples, prioritising OEMs and development teams working on industrial edge AI and physical AI applications.
From prototype to production
The module was developed in SECO's collaboration with Arduino and Qualcomm Technologies. It is designed to give developers a streamlined path from prototyping on Arduino's VENTUNO Q board to a production-ready industrial design on the same hardware and software foundation. SECO complements the hardware with carrier-board design expertise, software integration and Clea OS support for secure device management and long-term software maintenance.
Target applications
Target applications include robotics, drones, intelligent machines, industrial computer vision, handheld devices, autonomous platforms and unmanned systems, the building blocks of next-generation physical AI deployments. SECO chief product and marketing officer Lorenzo Veltroni said engineering results have been very encouraging and the company is now ready to put the technology into customers' hands.
SECO will also showcase the module and related edge AI technology at electronica 2026 in Munich, Germany, from Nov. 10 to 13.
