On the morning of Oct 9, 2026, a train bound for Agege struck a Honda sedan (plate EKY 902 JT) at the PWD railway crossing in Ikeja, Lagos, leaving the car nearly destroyed.

Officers of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and security personnel rushed to the scene and pulled the 55-year-old male driver from the wreckage unhurt; no other injuries were reported. After the wreck was towed off the tracks, the train resumed its journey, though traffic congestion around PWD persisted for a while.

LASTMA General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki said in an official statement that the vehicle had been handed to security personnel to investigate the cause, and warned all motorists never to dash across railway crossings as a train approaches, urging strict compliance with rail safety rules, with violators to face the law.
