Deliveroo to launch robot deliveries in London's Canary Wharf this month

Deliveroo and Coco Robotics announced an exclusive partnership bringing sidewalk delivery robots to the UK, starting in London's Canary Wharf this October before expanding to Milton Keynes, Leeds and other cities.
Why it matters
This is Deliveroo's first use of autonomous ground delivery vehicles in the UK and Coco Robotics' debut in the British market. The robots handle short-distance orders, and the companies say the rollout will create new skilled jobs in operations, maintenance and logistics. The robots will also share pavement-hazard data to help alert blind and partially sighted pedestrians.

Deliveroo, a brand within DoorDash's global portfolio, announced on Oct. 5 an exclusive strategic partnership with Coco Robotics, one of the largest sidewalk delivery operators in the U.S. and Europe, to bring robot deliveries to towns and cities across the UK. The rollout begins in Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf in London this October, expanding in the coming weeks and months to Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton-on-Tees and Nottingham. Launch merchants include burger brand Patty&Bun, independent bakery Signorelli and café-restaurant Beam, with Ole & Steen, Royal China and Din Tai Fung to join later.
Coco says it has completed more than 500,000 zero-emission deliveries for over 4,500 restaurant and retail partners in the U.S. and Europe. The launch is backed by local investment in UK operational infrastructure, including new depot and charging facilities, creating skilled jobs in operations, maintenance and logistics in each region. Local authorities welcomed the launches: East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward and Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen both issued statements of support.
