Helix Construct entered administration; council sealed all six sites, no restart timetable; only the Eltham Lemonwell Drive site publicly identified.

Why it matters

Six council housing projects in the Royal Borough of Greenwich have ground to a halt after contractor Helix Construct entered administration, dealing a blow to the borough's flagship "Greenwich Builds" programme for families on housing waiting lists.

Full report

The council confirmed it has sealed all six sites and is reviewing each one for financial and structural condition while notifying nearby residents. It is in talks with the administrators about a recovery plan, but there is currently no timetable for work to resume.

Only one site has been publicly identified so far: Lemonwell Drive in Eltham, where a three-storey block of nine flats was under construction. The locations of the other five sites have not been disclosed.

The story was reported on October 1 by two London local outlets. Greenwich Builds is the borough's programme to build new council homes for families on its housing waiting list.
