London's Piccadilly Line to Shut Entirely Over Halloween Weekend: No Service From Friday Night October 30 to Sunday November 1

Transport for London's planned-works timetable shows the Piccadilly line already suspended between Cockfosters and Uxbridge from October 28 to 30, with trains still running between Acton Town and Heathrow's terminals. From the Night Tube on Friday, October 30, through Sunday, November 1, there will be no service on the entire line, including to Heathrow, and no Night Tube on Friday or Saturday night. Airport passengers are directed to the Elizabeth line.
One of London's busiest Tube lines will shut down entirely over the Halloween weekend. According to Transport for London's (TfL) published planned-works timetable, the Piccadilly line has had no service between Cockfosters and Uxbridge since Wednesday, October 28, with trains continuing only between Acton Town and Heathrow, serving all terminals. From the Night Tube on Friday, October 30, through the end of Sunday, November 1, there will be no service anywhere on the line - including to Heathrow - and no Night Tube on Friday or Saturday night either.
How to get around instead
TfL directs travellers between central London and Heathrow to the Elizabeth line, and points Uxbridge-bound passengers to the Metropolitan line between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge. Replacement buses are also running in affected areas, including services PL4, PL5 and PL6 linking Acton Town, Finchley Central and Finsbury Park. Passengers should recheck TfL's live tools before travelling, as engineering dates can change.
Why the shutdown: upgrade work ahead of new trains
The closure is part of the Piccadilly line upgrade, combining preparations for a new train fleet with routine maintenance. According to TfL material, the upgrade brings 94 new walk-through trains, with the first expected to enter passenger service between December 2026 and June 2027. The next similar shutdown is already scheduled for the Night Tube on November 20 through November 22, when there will again be no service between Hammersmith and Heathrow or Uxbridge, so airport passengers will need to divert again.
