London Tube hit by overlapping weekend closures: Jubilee line shut between Green Park and Canary Wharf

· N GLOBE

Jubilee line has no service between Green Park and Canary Wharf this weekend; Windrush line skips Canada Water, with overlapping restrictions on DLR, Elizabeth line and Northern line.

Why it matters

London Underground and rail passengers face multiple overlapping closures this weekend (Oct. 3–4), with the Jubilee line partly closed across central and east London — removing the normal direct route between central London and North Greenwich for much of the weekend.

Full report

According to TfL's engineering programme, Jubilee line trains will not run between Green Park and Canary Wharf during daytime hours on Saturday and Sunday. Friday Night Tube had no Jubilee service between Finchley Road and Stratford, and Saturday Night Tube has none between Green Park and Stratford.

Other restrictions over the weekend: Windrush line trains will run through Canada Water without stopping all weekend (including Night Overground services), and on Sunday there is no Windrush service between Surrey Quays and Clapham Junction. DLR services will not operate between Tower Gateway and Shadwell on Sunday. On the Elizabeth line, trains will not stop at Acton Main Line, Hanwell or West Ealing after 23:00 on Saturday until 09:00 on Sunday. Northern line trains will not stop at Waterloo between 02:45 and 04:15 during Friday Night Tube.

The overlap matters because several obvious alternative routes are themselves affected — for example, passengers avoiding the Jubilee closure may choose the Elizabeth line, but those approaching from south London may normally depend on Canada Water to reach that same Jubilee service. TfL advises checking the Journey Planner before setting out.

Note: the Waterloo & City line normally does not operate at weekends, so its absence on Saturday and Sunday is not a separate engineering closure.
