Los Angeles joins 'No Kings: Vote Early' rallies as 2,500+ events span all 50 states

The fourth nationwide 'No Kings' action on Oct 17 pivots to early-vote mobilization ahead of the Nov 3 midterms. Organizers expect tens of thousands at the downtown LA rally alone.

Why it matters

This is the fourth nationwide 'No Kings' action since the movement began in June 2025 — and the first built around early voting rather than pure protest, converting street energy into ballot mobilization. Organizers describe the events as nonpartisan, with active campaigning prohibited.

Full report

'No Kings: Vote Early' takes place Saturday, October 17. Fast Company reports more than 2,500 events are on the map in all 50 states, including marches, rallies and voter fairs in San Francisco, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., New York and Los Angeles. Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin said Oct 17 was chosen deliberately — 'smack dab in the middle of the start of early voting all around the country.'

The day is organized by a coalition of more than 200 groups, including Indivisible, MoveOn and the American Civil Liberties Union. Organizers stress the events are nonpartisan: no candidate endorsements, no ballot sites — volunteers provide voter registration, voting information and poll-observer support.

In the Los Angeles area, LAist reports the downtown rally runs 1 to 5 p.m. at Gloria Molina Grand Park, with tens of thousands expected at the downtown rally itself, according to 50501 SoCal press coordinator Nick Miller. Rallies are also planned in Pasadena, Long Beach, Riverside, Burbank, Culver City, Fontana, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Santa Clarita, Torrance and Whittier. The LAPD said it is aware of the rally and does not anticipate issues.

Background: the movement began early in President Donald Trump's second term, with protesters opposing what organizers call growing authoritarianism and executive overreach; organizers estimate the March 28 round drew about 9 million people. Trump has dismissed the protests as 'a joke.'
