Four people died Saturday afternoon, September 26, 2026, when a private helicopter crashed in a field near Rang des Écossais, off Highway 10, in Sainte-Brigide-d'Iberville, about 50 kilometres southeast of Montreal. Emergency services were called shortly after 2:30 p.m. and found the aircraft on fire; firefighters brought the blaze under control within about an hour.
All four occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. The victims were later identified as pilot Suzanne Jutras, 50, and passengers Gabriel Jasmin, a radio host at Sherbrooke's 106.1 Énergie, Chantal Raymond and her son Loucas Perreault. Family members said the flight was a special aerial tour celebrating Raymond's birthday.
The Sûreté du Québec's Major Crimes Unit is investigating with crime-scene technicians, and the Transportation Safety Board of Canada has sent investigators to the site. Federal Transport Minister Steven MacKinnon confirmed a minister's observer will monitor the safety investigation. Police said the helicopter appeared to have experienced difficulties before the crash, but the cause remains undetermined.
