Montreal weekend traffic alert: REM delayed openings, multiple highway closures
Quebec's transport ministry warns of weekend disruptions: delayed REM openings on Saturdays and Sundays through Dec 20, partial/complete closures at the Saint-Pierre interchange from Oct 26 to year-end, and ongoing closures on Highway 40.
Why it matters
Multiple major routes in the Montreal region are under construction or closed this weekend (Oct 23-26), and REM opens late on weekends — drivers and transit riders alike should plan ahead.
Full report
Quebec's Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has issued a weekend traffic alert: from October 10 to December 20, REM opening times are delayed every Saturday and Sunday.
The Saint-Pierre interchange (A-20/R-138) faces partial or complete closures from October 26 through the end of the year; Rue Bridge and the Victoria Bridge have weekend lane restrictions; sections of Highway 40 remain closed.
The province urges motorists to check Mobilité Montréal for real-time conditions before heading out and to allow extra travel time.
