New York's 82nd Columbus Day Parade Returns to Fifth Avenue Today

The 82nd Annual Columbus Day Parade steps off at noon along Fifth Avenue from 44th to 72nd Street, live on Channel 7. Canceled last year by a nor'easter, this year's theme honors 250 years of Italian contributions to America, with Ray Dalio as Grand Marshal.
Why it matters
One of New York City's largest cultural parades, the Columbus Day Parade returns for its 82nd edition after the 2025 event was canceled due to a nor'easter and a city-declared weather emergency — a meaningful comeback for the Italian American community.
Parade details
The parade takes place Monday, October 12, at noon along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, from 44th to 72nd Street. Formation areas span East 43rd to 47th Streets; dispersal runs 72nd to 79th Streets. The Fifth Avenue closure permit window runs approximately 11:15 AM to 3:00 PM, with sections of Madison Avenue and side streets also managed by the NYPD.
This year's theme marks 250 years of Italian contributions to America. Grand Marshal is Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates and philanthropist. The Columbus Citizens Foundation, the organizer, also hosts a scholarship gala and a wreath-laying ceremony at the Christopher Columbus monument in Columbus Circle; the foundation has awarded nearly $40 million in scholarships to students of Italian heritage.
How to watch and get around
Live coverage begins at noon on Channel 7 (WABC) and ABC 7 New York streaming platforms. Federal offices observe the Columbus Day holiday; NYC public schools are closed for Italian Heritage/Indigenous Peoples' Day. Drivers in Midtown should plan alternate routes.
