New York City votes on Tuesday, November 3. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.; public school students learn remotely for the day; alternate side parking rules are suspended for Election Day, while parking meters remain in effect. Early voting ended on Sunday, with the Board of Elections' unofficial count putting nine-day early-voting check-ins at 690,526; voters who did not vote early have Tuesday as their only remaining chance to vote in person. Poll hours and where to vote
Voters should note that an Election Day poll site may not be the same as an early voting site, and should look up their assigned site at findmypollsite.vote.nyc before heading out. Every city voter will see the races for governor, state comptroller and attorney general, plus five proposed City Charter amendments on the back of the ballot; voters can view a sample ballot by address through the Board of Elections.
Early voting in numbers
The nine days of early voting drew 690,526 check-ins: 219,536 in Brooklyn, 188,434 in Manhattan, 162,914 in Queens, 67,630 in the Bronx and 52,012 on Staten Island.
Mail ballots, schools and parking
Voters who already hold a mail ballot can return it by mail with a postmark no later than Tuesday, November 3 (the board's envelopes include postage), or drop it off by 9 p.m. Tuesday at their borough Board of Elections office or at any Election Day poll site in their borough. Voters who were issued a mail ballot cannot use a voting machine but can still vote in person on an affidavit ballot. On schools, the NYC Public Schools calendar lists November 3 as a day when "school will be in session remotely for all students" — a school day, not a day off: students in kindergarten and above take classes from home, while children in 3-K, Pre-K or LYFE programs follow the remote activities their program sets; private, parochial and charter schools set their own calendars. On parking, alternate side parking rules are suspended for Tuesday, while meters remain in effect. The National Weather Service forecasts a mostly sunny Tuesday with a high near 69°F and a low around 53°F Tuesday night.
