The announcement, published Oct. 1 on the governor's official site, says shootings are down 67 percent under Hochul's administration. The new funding expands the Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) initiative, which works with local police departments and community groups in the areas hardest hit by gun violence.
Hochul also announced $1.5 million for two Mohawk Valley community projects and a $10 million SUNY nursing simulation hub in the same release cycle.
