Why it matters
On Oct. 21, 2026, at GTC Berlin, NVIDIA announced capacity agreements with six supply-chain partners to expand global manufacturing for its accelerated computing and full-stack "AI factory" platform. Founder and CEO Jensen Huang said: "We are in the midst of the largest infrastructure buildout in human history. Demand is extraordinary. Capacity is the constraint."
Full report
The six partners are Amkor Technology, IBIDEN, King Yuan Electronics (KYEC), Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) and Unimicron Technology Corporation. The agreements expand critical manufacturing capabilities across substrates, advanced packaging, testing and optical engines, strengthening the resilience and redundancy of NVIDIA's global supply chain.
Concrete targets: NVIDIA plans to increase substrate capacity 2.5x over three years; IBIDEN's Ono Plant in Japan will expand to 3x current capacity, with additional output ramping in Q1 2028; KYEC will build new facilities in the U.S. supported by a $1.1 billion capacity reservation advance from NVIDIA; SPIL targets a 15x increase in optical-engine capacity for co-packaged optics by mid-2027, with another doubling by end-2028; Samsung Electro-Mechanics will build dedicated ABF substrate lines in Sejong and Busan, South Korea, with deliveries starting in 2026.
