· N GLOBE

Public Services and Procurement Canada announced on October 26 that the Chaudière Crossing will be fully closed to motorists nightly from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. between October 28 and November 7 for rehabilitation work.

Public Services and Procurement Canada announced on October 26 that the Chaudière Crossing between Ottawa and Gatineau will be fully closed to motorists overnight, from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Wednesday, October 28 to Saturday, November 7, to accommodate rehabilitation work under the Southern Structures Renewal Project.

Detours

During the closures, motorists will be detoured via the Portage Bridge, and heavy trucks will be directed to the Macdonald-Cartier Bridge. Local traffic will be permitted between Alexandre-Taché Boulevard and Zaida Eddy Private, with signage in place to guide drivers. Pedestrians and cyclists will also be closed out during the overnight closures and directed along a signed detour via Chaudière Private and the Ottawa River Pathway.

The department says the temporary closures are necessary to ensure the safety of users and workers, that the schedule may change depending on weather conditions, and that drivers should exercise caution. Anyone travelling between Ottawa and Gatineau at night during this period should allow extra time for the detour.
