Ottawa's Planning and Housing Committee on Oct 7 approved two residential projects: a 30-storey mixed-use building on St. Laurent Boulevard in Overbrook with 401 new homes, tree-planting areas and ground-floor commercial space near the St. Laurent Station; and a zoning amendment for a new subdivision on Hazeldean Road near Mantra Street in Stittsville, where a developer plans 347 detached homes, townhomes and apartment-style housing on the site of a relocating driving range. Open space along the Carp River will be protected, with pathways planned to connect to nearby neighbourhoods; construction cannot begin until approved site work is completed and floodplain maps are updated.
The committee's recommendations go to city council on Oct 8; if approved, developers can move forward with the next steps to build more than 830 additional homes.
